How to change your mindset for Success

“If you’re still looking for that one person who will change your life, take a look in the mirror.”

I love this quote so much, because many of us, particularly us women, go through life with this pre-conditioned expectation that we will only feel truly secure, happy and fulfilled in our lives, if we find that one person, that one Prince Charming that’s going to ride on in and rescue us.

But, honestly, this is just a big fat lie that we  pass down from generation to generation.  Our grandmothers passed it down to our mothers and our mothers passed it down to us.

Now, don’t get me wrong, they didn’t do this intentionally, in fact they did it with great love and affection and their only error, was the fact, that each night, they tucked us up with warmth and love, as they read us fairy tale, after fairy tale, with every ending being the same.

We always knew that eventually Prince Charming would come galloping in on his white horse and rescue the princess.  Then they would ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after.

So many of us, rather than searching within ourselves to be our own hero in life, get back on the treadmill, continuing our search, believing that happiness, security and fulfilment, can only be found in somebody else.

Don’t get me wrong, if you do find that one person, that truly compliments your life – then that is amazing and you should treasure it, but it should NEVER be the only thing.

Because, you can only find true self-respect, self-worth and security within yourself.  Nobody else can give that to you.

So own who you are, make peace with the mirror….and watch your reflection change and grow, as you begin to realise that the one person who can change your life, is looking right back at you.

Because destiny is NOT a matter of chance; it’s a matter of choice.

It's NOT a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved – and what you’re capable of achieving in life, is 100% down to you and nobody else.

Are you ready to swap out the traditional fairy-tale image, to one where you become your own hero? Are you ready to be the Mistress of your own ship and the Victress of your own life?”

Because if you are, it’s time to stop drifting in the ocean and start navigating your life in the direction that you want it to go.

But please know that you don’t have to have it all figured out right now. It’s just a matter of taking a long, hard look in the mirror, really thinking about what you want out of life, then putting a plan in place to make it happen.  One small step at a time.

How to change your mindset for Success

I know that this can feel really overwhelming, because, believe me, I have been there too.  I've have often felt trapped in the victim mindset, feeling overwhelmed by all the challenges that life has often thrown at me.

I have suffered pregnancy loss, bereavement, divorce, single-parenthood and as if that wasn't enough, I suffered a brain haemorrhage, in 2016, which not only threatened my life, but also robbed me of my 'super-powers', leaving me with an invisible disability, that many people don’t see or understand.

Of course, there were times throughout those trials and tribulations, where I felt myself slipping down into a dark tunnel.  But did I want to stay there? No I did not! It's ok to be down for a while, but you certainly don't want to stay there.

So, how did I get out of that negative mindset?

How do you change your mindset and attitude, to be positive, happy and foccussed on success?

I did it by harnessing 'my victress within'.  That quiet voice inside of me, that is constantly willing me, to rise up, to do and be more.

When you are going through challenging times in your life, it's important to acknowledge those adversities and get whatever help you need, professionally, medically or personally. But you MUST not stay focussed on the negative aspect of your life.  Acknowledge them yes, but dwell on them, no.

Remember, negativity breeds negativity and positivity breeds positivity. So, always stay focussed on the positive aspects of your life. Even if you think there is nothing positive to focus on, there is, there always is.

When I was fired from my job for being pregnant, when I was going through my divorce from a 20 year marriage, when I was struggling as a single parent, I always stayed focussed on my dreams.

Even now, as a brain injury survivor, no matter, what private struggles I face, I still stay focussed on my dreams.

Why? Because, it is our dreams that provide the escape from our current reality, to the place that we really want to be in our lives.  So dream Victress! Dream BIG!

I know that when you are in the grips of adversity, this might seem impossible.  But over the years, I have developed a framework, that has helped to keep me in a positive, success oriented mindset, regardless of what challenges are going on in my life.

I like to call it, my "Victress Framework." Here it is:

  • Vision - hold a clear vision in your mind of what you want your life to look like.
  • Intention - set clear intentions about what steps you will need to take, to move towards your goal or vision.
  • Consistency - committ to consistently take the actions necessary, to realise your goals, no matter how scary or unrealistic they may seem.
  • Trust - trust that each step will take you closer to where you want to be.
  • Resillience - going after your dreams is hard. You will need to move out of your comfort zone and sometimes you will fail, but that's ok. Often, we learn more from our failures, than from our successes. So, always be resillient and bounce back.
  • Energy - changing your life and going after your dreams takes effort and energy. So, look after your mind and body, so that you have the energy to 'go all in' after your dreams.
  • Success Habits - develop a positive, success oriented mindset by practising these popular success habits;  Personal Development, Meditation, Affirmations, Gratitude, Journaling and Exercise.
  • Surrender - surrender to your vision and let go of any resistance holding you back.  Surrender to any fears or self-doubt and move confidently, in the direction of your dreams.

I hope that you will get as much value as I have done over the years, in following these, self-developed, positive mindset tricks and techniques.

Because, I can promise you that there is no greater sense of pride or self-achievement than setting a big goal for yourself and taking inspired action towards that goal, as you begin to see progress and transformation in your business and your life.
